June 5, 2011 – Sunday
Today was sooo much better and we got so lucky with the weather! We went all over the island, popping into the free Biennale exhibits. Unfortunately, the majority of the exhibits were in the arsenale and the giardini which you had to pay to get into. But really I think this was better because than we really explored Venice on our way to the different exhibits, pausing to take pictures along the way.
We went to at least 15 exhibits, the most interesting to me was the Iraq pavilion because it talked about and showed how our war with them impacted their society and culture so drastically. The website is: http://www.pavilionofiraq.org/upload/index.html. There was one video of someone washing the American flag which symbolized how we needed to start over.
At about 9:30, while we stood in line for some gelato, it started sprinkling so we headed back to the hostel. There are many more exhibits that we hope to get to tomorrow if this beautiful weather holds up.
i like the art in the link you have. the one of the office saber match reminded me of dwight on the office.
